Featured in The Knot Magazine . Twice!!

The Knot Wedding Magazine has magazines in several different states and regions across the US. I was honored to find out that I have Real Weddings featured in not just one, but two regions!!

In the Texas Knot, they chose to feature Margo and Jonathan's wedding in Corpus Christi, TX. Here is a glimpse into the magazine currently on stands...

Upcoming Mission Trip . Honduras

Soon I will be traveling with a group to Honduras. We will be doing all kinds of stuff, but the basis of the mission is to capture what Hope for Honduras does through photography. Hope for Honduras does all kinds of wonderful things. Please check out their website. I am asking for prayers as I prepare for this trip. Please pray for all of the missionaries already working there, the people they are working with and for, and for the group I will be traveling with. I am very excited about this opportunity and know that it will be a life changing experience.

Cabo, Here I Come!

I'm a list maker. For example, heading out of town tomorrow and made a packing list...

What to Pack

I guess I'm good to go. In just a few hours we head to the airport to go to CABO!! I will be photographing a wedding on Saturday at The One and Only Palmilla and am very excited! The rest of the time will be dedicated to some seriously needed r&r with my hubby.

Wedding Published . The Knot Wedding Magazine

The latest edition of The Knot Texas Wedding Magazine hit the stands today and I have a Real Weddings feature! I received my early copies about a week ago and with everything going on, I forgot to share it with you. So here are a few pics of the featured wedding. It is of Varuni and Minesh's wedding, the same wedding that was featured on WE TV's Platinum Weddings. It made a 4 page spread in The Knot Texas edition. It is always exciting to see your own work in print! Yea!!!

My wedding is going to be on TV!!

Ok, well not my wedding, but a wedding that I photographed. Varuni and Minesh were married last October. Their wedding was covered by Platinum Weddings and will be airing this coming Sunday on WE TV. Platinum Weddings is a show that features big lavish weddings. The day was gorgeous and a bit crazy with all of the camera crews, videographer, myself, and 1100 guests! I can't wait to view the end result after seeing everything that went into filming. You know what I'll be doing Sunday night. Here is the lowdown if you want to catch it...

30 Years Ago...

On Wednesday, January 24th, 1979, a little girl was born... ME!!!

My mom used to tell me the following story every year and today was no different as she called to say, "Exactly 30 years ago at this time, I was getting ready to leave for the hospital. Last night your dad and I finished wallpapering your room around midnight. Then I had popcorn. I woke up to the start of labor. There was a lot of snow on the ground and I told your father I thought he should stay home from school. He snowblowed the driveway and we headed to the hospital around 10am. You were born at 2:18pm"... she always has much more to say than that, but I'll spare you - lol.

Saying Goodbye to 2008...

Today is the last day of 2008. As we end the year, I cannot help but reflect on these past 12 months. What a year!!

I...
turned 29 in January. was featured in The Knot Magazine Florida. attended Love Affair workshop in February and learned so much while making some great friends. traveled to Tallahasse, FL VERY pregnant for Sondra & Ryan's Wedding in March. waited oh so patiently for my beautiful son to make his debut. underwent a c-section to give birth to our little man. LOVE being a mom! celebrated my hubbie's 30th. went back to work in June, traveling with a 6 week old baby boy (he did soo good!). had a crazy busy but very rewarding wedding season this fall. am so blessed to work with such wonderful couples and families! traveled to Chicago for the memorable and rainy Ali & Kam's wedding. traveled to Michigan several times for weddings and family visits. traveled to Florida, West Palm Beach as a family for vacation and to cover the Jennifer & Urmit's wedding in August (Jay's first visit to the ocean). covered Varuni & Minesh's extravagant wedding in San Antonio which will be featured on "Platinum Weddings". was saddened with the news that Paul's sister would begin her battle with Breast Cancer at age 29. traveled to Naples and Miami, FL for Kristen & Jeff's and Mari & Peter's weddings and took in some much needed Mommy time. slowly but surely am learning to juggle mommyhood, being a business owner and being a wife. had lots of family and friends come visit us in Texas. traveled home to Michigan for Christmas with my new family of three (and our two pups). am so blessed.


I am thankful for...
The love, mercy, grace, and healing of Jesus Christ. My amazing husband. My beautiful baby boy. Wonderful family and friends. The opportunity to do what I love and earn a living at it. Health. A place to call Home. Food on our table. My puppies. Being born in such a great nation. Freedom. All of you.

When Paul went to buy the turkey, I said "Ask the meat guy what kind is best" and I was met with the reply "Honey, you always get a Butterball!" So that is exactly what we got - a 22lb Butterball for 3 1/2 people... leftovers!

On a year when we truly have so much to be thankful for, Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. I hope you enjoy your Butterball as much as we enjoy ours!

runny noses, little sleep, and my apologies...

So here we are in the midst of Jay's first cold. Last week I was battling a cold and just when I started feeling better, little man announced his. As I now realize "Supermom" is not one of my titles and that I can't do it all...
I want to apologize and say that I am working on catching up on things you all are waiting so patiently for (ex: blogging from MI trip). I will be taking the time Jay needs off to tend to him and starting once he is healthy, I will have office hours (with the help of a nanny - Yea!) and will be able to catch up on all of the things that have fallen behind in my attempt to "do it all", while traveling, and being a full-time mom. The truth is my superhero outfit is malfunctioning. Does anyone know of a good seamstress?

Email issues...

I am having issues with my email. I am receiving email just fine, but for some reason I am having problems with sending emails out. So if you've emailed me while I was gone on vacation, please be patient with me responding. I'm working on getting back with you just as soon as I can. Thanks!

Going on an airplane...

We are headed out to West Palm Beach, FL tomorrow bright and early. That is right. The very first DeYoung Family Vacation... let's hope it doesn't resemble the infamous Grizwold Family Vacation. I have a fantastic wedding on Sunday, and the rest of the time is VAY-CAY!!

What this means is I will not be checking my email during this time and will be back Wednesday, September 3. I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
